Lynn Wyatt, a living legend of the local, national and international social and philanthropic scene, serves in significant roles on numerous charitable boards, including: founding trustee of the Princess Grace Foundation, USA and chair of its Inaugural Gala in Washington, DC; a member of the Founder’s Council for Artistic Excellence; vice chairman of the Houston Grand Opera since 1984; founding trustee of the Film Department at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; vice chairman of the Houston Grand Opera; trustee and executive committee member of Houston Ballet Board; executive committee member of the Alley Theatre Board of Directors; life trustee for the Star of Hope, Mission for the Homeless; and Chairman Emeritus of the Brilliant Lecture Series, where she has graciously been host to many of the speakers, including Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan, Sir Sidney Poitier, Lauren Bacall and Dr. Maya Angelou.

Mrs. Wyatt is proud to be the special advisor to the World Foundation for Medical Research and Prevention, which supports research aimed at the design of prolonging the active life of aging people, the new types of AIDS vaccines, and the diagnosis and treatment of microbial and viral factors related to cancer and auto-immune diseases.

The recipient of diverse awards, she was inducted into the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame in 1977. The Government of France honored her in 1982 with investiture into the prestigious “Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters” for her significant contribution to the enrichment of the French cultural inheritance. In 2006 the French government elevated her to the Order’s Rank of “Officier.” She was appointed by former President Reagan to serve on the Board of Trustees to the U.S. Naval Academy, a post in which she served for six years. Mrs. Wyatt received the Woman of Outstanding Achievement Award presented in Alabama; the Most Elegant Woman Award presented in Rome, Italy; the Woodson Medal presented by the Houston Forum; the Ima Hogg Award; and was named Houston’s Most Fascinating by the Texas Medical Center Library – twice. Former Texas Governor W. P. Clements commissioned her as Ambassador of Goodwill. Recently she was recognized as Socialite of the Century by Texas Monthly Magazine and declared a Cadillac Texas Legend by KHOU-TV.

Lynn S. Wyatt, a third generation Houstonian, is married to Oscar S. Wyatt, Jr. He is the founder and retired chairman of the Coastal Corporation and now pursues his various entrepreneurial interests. They have four sons and two grandchildren, and Mrs. Wyatt’s interests include world travel, lecturing, entertaining, reading and personal fitness training, including aerobics, yoga, Pilates and martial arts. She is a Black Belt First Degree in Tae-Kwan-Do.
