Frances Spradley & Kathy Thomas
As we put our heads together and join forces with friends to plan the 2009 Swan Ball, we can’t help but anxiously await a beautiful June here at Cheekwood. During all of our planning and conversations of inspiring, creative party design, gorgeous jewelry, incredible talent and dear, dear friends on our committee, we have found, among all of these precious treasures, that waiting until June 13th to celebrate our fabulous good fortune is the only task that’s really difficult.
We shared our excitement with a hundred friends on January 14 at Lake and John Eakin’s lovely home, at our Swan Ball Design Presentation Party. The festive crowd welcomed news of our headline entertainer, Nashville singer and song-writing treasure LeAnn Rimes. Our city’s own design maven Joe Smith revealed his sumptuously serene vision for a Swan Ball “fusion” atmosphere, where Asian inspiration meets the classically inspired English garden. Richard Eiseman, Jr., was also on hand to share news of his return to Cheekwood and the Swan Ball, bearing a bounty of jewelry designs so diverse that anyone would be hard pressed NOT to find the perfect gift or piece to finish a beloved collection.
Our Auction Committee shares our excitement and has created plenty of their own – wait until you hear about their impressive cache of jewelry, furs, parties and, as always, an amazing selection of trips and adventures for all of us to enjoy.
There’s still plenty of fun to go around, and make certain you save the date for the Auction Preview Party, Tuesday, May 26 at 6 pm at the Loews Vanderbilt Plaza, where party chairmen Susan Cook, Nan Cox and Sally Shepherd are making certain everyone will have a fair chance at bringing home the best goodies.
Speaking of calendars, your spring will be packed with Swan Ball action, and we can’t wait to share it with you!
In this of all seasons, please know how blessed we feel to have your support – without which we could have no Swan Ball.
    Best regards,
