The Swan Ball, held in Nashville, Tennessee is described by Town and Country magazine as one of the top five benefit balls in the United States. Benefitting Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art, the event began in 1962 and raises approximately $1 million annually for Cheekwood. Without euphemisms, the guest list includes the most sophisticated and affluent people from the area, as well as many other distinguished Southeastern, national and international guests.
The white tie gala evening is held on the property of Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art. Cheekwood is a privately supported non-profit educational institute for the study and appreciation of the arts and botanical gardens. Cheekwood is situated on 60 acres, atop Nashville’s rolling hills, and has long served as an important cultural center and a source of educational opportunities for the families of middle Tennessee.
In connection with the the event, the Swan Ball provides an evening dedicated to auctioning the finest in luxury trips and treasures. Extravagant trips have included stays in ambassador's residences, tickets to exclusive events and accommodations donated by Ritz Carlton, Aman Resorts, Peninsula, ResidenSea, St. Regis, Mandarin Oriental, Loews Hotels and others.
The Swan Ball includes cocktails, a seated dinner, dancing to nationally known orchestras, entertainment, special art exhibits, and superior exhibits of jewelry. The Swan Award is presented annually to individuals who have distinguished themselves in the Arts or in dedicated service to humanity.
